An A3 Three-Wheeler (Tuk-Tuk) Driving Course is a specialized training program designed to teach individuals how to safely operate, maneuver, and maintain a motorized three-wheeler. Passing this course qualifies you under the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) framework to legally drive a tuk-tuk for commercial commuter services or private cargo transport across Kenya

Training structure

What you will learn

• Three-Wheel Stability Control: Prevent chassis rollover by mastering correct speed and weight distribution during sharp turns.
• Precision Reversing: Park and dock into narrow cargo loading bays or commuter stages using side mirrors only.
• Handlebar & Clutch Mastery: Coordinate handlebar steering, manual twist-grips, or foot clutches smoothly without stalling.
• Defensive Traffic Navigation: Navigate high-traffic urban roundabouts, T-junctions, and crowded Kenyan markets safely.
• Passenger & Load Management: Adjust braking distances and acceleration patterns based on passenger weight or cargo volume.
• Basic Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose common engine stalls, cable snaps, tire punctures, and fluid leaks independently.

Before you start

• Age: Minimum 18 years old.ID: Original Kenyan National ID card or valid passport.
• Account: Active NTSA eCitizen account for tracking school registration and test booking.
• Licence: Valid Kenyan Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) for class A3.
• Fitness: Good physical health, especially clear vision and physical coordination to handle the manual steering handlebar.
